Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the OzonAction communications activities and outreach materials related to various campaigns, including World Ozone Day (WOD), International Network of Women in Cooling (INWIC), International Customs Day (ICD), and International Women’s Day (IWD). The position involves the development of communication packages, outreach tools, and media campaigns aimed at raising awareness and promoting gender inclusivity in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. The consultant will work closely with the Partnership Programme Officer and the Senior Programme Manager Officer to ensure the successful delivery of communication strategies and materials that align with UNEP's mission and branding. The consultant will also be responsible for enhancing the visual design and user experience of the OzonAction Documents Portal, ensuring that all materials are engaging, intuitive, and accessible to stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of communication strategies, marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, and the ability to produce high-quality content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:
Developing a comprehensive communications package for the International Network of Women in Cooling (INWIC), including youth-focused media campaigns, visual content, and outreach tools for National Ozone Units (NOUs).
Supporting the communication campaign for World Ozone Day by providing key messages, promotional text, and editorial support for OzoNews.
Enhancing the visual design and user experience of the OzonAction Documents Portal, proposing design improvements, and developing updated presentation templates.
Coordinating outreach activities and materials for the MOP-38 and Kigali 10th anniversary, including factsheets, exhibition materials, and enforcement materials.
Conducting media outreach and strategic pitching to secure coverage for key events and campaigns.
Leading the production of a video series showcasing success stories related to the Multilateral Fund.
Developing campaign concepts for International Customs Day and International Women’s Day, including detailed proposals and outreach strategies.
Providing flexible communications support as needed, ensuring all outputs are delivered on time and meet UNEP's standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communications, marketing, international development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted. Successful completion of programs in content creation, digital marketing, media and communication studies, social media, journalism, and communications for development is advantageous. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, marketing, or international development is required, along with demonstrated experience in conceptualizing and implementing international communication campaigns, preferably for United Nations entities or similar organizations. Familiarity with the Montreal Protocol is essential, and experience in analytics, report writing, and meeting organization is desirable.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communications, marketing, international development, or a related field. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have two additional years of relevant work experience. Educational qualifications in content creation, digital marketing, media studies, and communications for development are considered advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, marketing, or international development. Experience in designing and implementing international communication campaigns, particularly for United Nations entities or similar organizations, is required. Familiarity with the Montreal Protocol and experience in analytics, report writing, and meeting organization are also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and audiences.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to last for nine months, with funding sourced from both the 2025 and 2026 Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) Budgets. The consultancy will be implemented through two consecutive contracts, with the first covering outputs related to the communications package and campaigns, and the second focusing on video production and additional campaign proposals. The position is home-based, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
