Job Overview:
The Coordination Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the UN Women’s UN System Coordination Division (UNSCD) in managing and coordinating efforts to promote gender equality and women's empowerment across the UN system. The intern will assist in strategic planning, corporate coordination processes, and the integration of gender priorities into UN-wide initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the workings of the UN system and contribute to impactful projects that aim to enhance gender equality. The intern will be involved in preparing strategic documents, supporting inter-agency coordination, and engaging with various stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive collective action towards gender equality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to various processes, including the development and monitoring of the UNSCD annual workplan and results frameworks. They will assist in preparing strategic notes and internal planning documents, and support the integration of gender equality priorities into UN system-wide processes. The intern will compile and analyze information related to UN coordination mechanisms, assist in organizing high-level inter-agency meetings, and provide logistical support for events. Additionally, the intern will contribute to advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by conducting background research and stakeholder outreach.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of gender equality and women's empowerment issues, as well as human rights and sustainable development. They should demonstrate the ability to develop and utilize systems and processes to achieve results. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with the ability to synthesize information effectively. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, capable of working independently while maintaining confidentiality and developing strong institutional relationships.

Educational Background:
Applicants should have university studies in disciplines such as gender issues, political affairs, international relations, or other relevant fields. Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate program, be in the final year of a bachelor's degree, have graduated within the last two years, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that includes the internship as part of its requirements.

Experience:
The position is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or have recently graduated. While prior experience in a related field is beneficial, it is not strictly required. The focus is on candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the mission of UN Women.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to international discussions.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, but interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a stipend to help cover basic living costs. Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a valid health insurance plan, proof of school enrollment or degree, a scanned copy of their passport or national ID, and a copy of a valid visa if applicable.
