Job Overview:
The Adolescent Development Officer position is critical within a Country Office where health programs are a key component of the Country Programme. The role involves supporting the development and planning of health programs, particularly focusing on maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health. The officer will contribute to updating situation analyses, conducting assessments, and providing technical and operational support throughout programming processes. This includes preparing documentation for program reviews and approvals, monitoring and evaluating results, and ensuring compliance with organizational rules and donor commitments. The officer will also engage in networking and partnership building to enhance program implementation and resource mobilization, while applying innovative approaches to achieve sustainable results for children and adolescents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support program development and planning by conducting assessments and updating situation analyses to inform UNICEF's advocacy and policy development.
  • Provide technical and operational support throughout programming processes, ensuring compliance with organizational processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to address operational issues related to health care and child development priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, preparing reports for management and stakeholders to inform them of progress and necessary actions.
  • Conduct field visits to assess program implementation and provide technical support to government and NGO partners.
  • Build partnerships with stakeholders to support program implementation and capacity building.
  • Identify and share lessons learned to enhance stakeholder capacity and promote good practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Medicine, anthropology, psychology, sociology, education, or related fields. Proven experience in analysis, technical support, learning, researching, planning, and organizing is required. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable. Experience in a developing country and with international organizations is considered an asset, particularly in fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, anthropology, psychology, sociology, education, or other related disciplines is required for this position.

Experience:
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Health Care, Early Childhood Development, social development, social management, adolescent development, or related fields is required. Experience in program management and monitoring in a developing country context is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset and is desirable for enhancing communication and collaboration.
