Job Overview:
The (Associate) Investment Officer position within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at IFC is a pivotal role that involves managing a diverse portfolio of investment projects across various financial intermediaries, including commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and insurance companies. The officer will be responsible for leading portfolio supervision, conducting credit and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with investment covenants. This role requires a strong understanding of financial instruments and the ability to develop innovative financial structures for both straightforward and complex transactions. The officer will also engage in business development, client relationship management, and collaboration with internal teams to support the strategic objectives of FIG Europe. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying investment opportunities and addressing client challenges, all while contributing to the overarching mission of sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the (Associate) Investment Officer include leading the portfolio supervision of multiple projects, which may involve restructuring, rescheduling, and capital increases. The officer will perform credit and risk assessments, financial projections, and monitor changes to risk flags to evaluate portfolio performance. Additionally, the officer will supervise the quality of portfolio reporting and risk ratings prepared by junior staff, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project risks. The role also entails executing investment projects, coordinating with stakeholders, and negotiating successful outcomes. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners is essential, as is supporting FIG Europe’s strategy development and implementation. The officer will collaborate across industry teams to structure joint venture projects and coordinate with internal support units to address investment challenges.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBA or equivalent master’s degree in finance or management, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience in finance. A proven track record in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments, as well as managing debt and equity portfolios, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of industry trends and local issues in the sub-region, possess strong financial and credit skills, and have the ability to structure a variety of financial instruments. Business development and client relationship skills are crucial, as is the ability to interact independently with management and government officials. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory, with fluency in Polish or other European languages being a strong advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an MBA or other equivalent master’s degree in finance or management. This advanced education is critical for understanding complex financial concepts and developing the necessary skills to manage investment portfolios effectively.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of experience in finance, specifically in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments. Candidates should have a strong background in active portfolio management of both debt and equity investments, demonstrating a successful track record in the financial sector.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization.
