Job Overview: The Field Protection Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing and guiding activities related to migrant assistance, particularly in the context of the ongoing refugee situation from Ukraine. This position requires a proactive approach to coordinating the work of protection assistants and case workers, ensuring that protection interventions are delivered effectively and in compliance with donor requirements and IOM standards. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including managers of collective accommodation centers, social services, and governmental agencies, to ensure that migrants have access to safe and dignified protection of their human rights. The role also involves planning, implementing, and monitoring the operations of the Field Protection Team, adapting to the changing needs of migrants and their legal statuses. The Field Protection Coordinator will be responsible for drafting correspondence, compiling and analyzing data, preparing reports, and identifying gaps in service delivery, all while maintaining a focus on high-quality service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Field Protection Coordinator include supervising and providing guidance to field protection assistants and case workers, ensuring effective delivery of protection services. The incumbent will draft correspondence related to project issues, compile and analyze data, and prepare reports that highlight significant issues for consideration by relevant parties. Monitoring budget implementation for field protection activities is essential, as is proposing necessary adjustments to ensure timely delivery. The coordinator will serve as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with various organizational units and external parties to initiate requests and obtain necessary clearances. Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, as well as preparing training materials, will be part of the role. The coordinator will also participate in meetings and conferences, maintaining effective communication and cooperation with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders. Regular updates to the referral system in response to legal changes and local context will be required, along with identifying new opportunities for cooperation with social services to assist vulnerable groups.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience. The position requires experience in administrative work, collaboration with finance and procurement departments, and working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. Candidates should have experience liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations, as well as supervising a team of at least three individuals. Experience in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma with significant relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution, and relevant professional experience is essential for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or six years for those with a high school diploma. Experience should include administrative work, collaboration with finance and procurement departments, and direct work with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable populations. Candidates should also have experience in supervising teams and working with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Languages: Fluency in Polish, English, and Ukrainian is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of Russian, French, or Spanish is considered an asset, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in these languages will enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
