Job Overview: The primary purpose of the Asistente Técnico en Alojamiento e Infraestructura / Agua, Saneamiento e Higiene position is to contribute to the implementation of humanitarian services related to shelter, infrastructure, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) in accordance with NRC's programmatic strategy. The role involves supporting technical activities of projects aimed at ensuring affected individuals have access to adequate housing solutions, educational facilities, and various temporary or transitional community infrastructure solutions. The position also focuses on improving health conditions, ensuring access to safe water and sanitation, and promoting healthy hygiene practices among affected populations. This includes facilitating inclusive access to humanitarian assistance and promoting active participation from the affected communities, all while adhering to NRC's strategic frameworks and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente Técnico will be responsible for ensuring adherence to NRC's policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of project portfolios according to action plans, organizing and executing tasks based on priorities and standards, and maintaining knowledge in the area of specialization to effectively support the team. The role requires resolving daily issues according to agreed procedures, preparing status reports for management, and ensuring proper documentation. Specific duties include providing efficient and timely shelter and infrastructure services, conducting needs assessments, promoting positive behavioral changes regarding housing and hygiene, facilitating information sessions and workshops, and incorporating sociocultural adaptations into architectural designs. The Asistente Técnico will also manage financial tracking of project activities, request necessary materials, ensure quality control, and participate in community-based projects while supporting monitoring and documentation efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional background in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydraulics, or related fields with specialization in project coordination or management of construction projects, including WASH facilities. A minimum of one year of work experience as a Technical Assistant in humanitarian contexts is required. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in the technical field, ideally with relevant professional qualifications. Experience in complex and changing contexts, as well as proven experience related to the responsibilities of the position, is essential. Basic knowledge of the English language is also required.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydraulics, or related fields is necessary for this position. Candidates should have specialized training in project management or coordination related to construction and WASH facilities.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of one year of professional experience in implementing housing projects, educational facilities, or community infrastructure, as well as experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion. Candidates should have experience working with governmental entities, UN agencies, or other humanitarian organizations in shelter and WASH-related topics in emergency contexts. Familiarity with national and international humanitarian action standards, territorial planning, and construction regulations is also important.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, and basic knowledge of English is required. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.
