Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in leading the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities related to disaster risk reduction across Latin America and the Caribbean. This position requires a strategic approach to engage with key partners and stakeholders, ensuring that project deliverables align with the overarching goals of the Sendai Framework and the Early Warnings for All initiative. The coordinator will oversee the quality assurance of risk knowledge products and facilitate effective communication and collaboration among various actors involved in disaster preparedness and response. The role also involves producing progress reports and ensuring compliance with UNDRR's results-based monitoring requirements, thereby contributing to the overall success of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for leading the overall planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring that all deliverables are met on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include coordinating contributions to risk knowledge products, serving as the primary liaison with key partners such as DG-ECHO and UN agencies, and guiding quality assurance for risk assessments and knowledge products. The coordinator will also be tasked with gathering and systematizing progress reports, leading internal coordination meetings, and ensuring visibility of project activities through various communication channels. Additionally, the coordinator will promote voluntary action and community engagement as part of the UN Volunteers programme, integrating these elements into their daily work.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong leadership and coordination skills, with a proven ability to manage complex projects and engage with diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with a solid understanding of disaster risk reduction principles and practices. Educational Background:

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of several years of experience in project management, particularly in the field of disaster risk reduction or humanitarian aid. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Sendai Framework and related global initiatives will be beneficial, as will experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects and engaging with local communities.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable due to the location and nature of the work. The climate is hot and humid, with a rainy season lasting approximately eight months, which candidates should consider when relocating.
