Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Implementation Support: Assist in the execution of the gender work plan for the 2023–2027 country program and state workplans, focusing on regular coordination meetings and collaborative tasks with the gender focal network.
Knowledge Management: Facilitate the documentation of program-related materials, publications, and reports in collaboration with gender focal points, ensuring effective communication and information sharing.
Reporting Contributions: Aid in the preparation of ICO-specific, regional, and global reports, coordinating with gender focal points and sections to report on gender results and the status of the gender marker.
Documentation and Analysis: Support the creation of program and project reports or briefing documents required for government reviews, program analysis, and annual reports.
Strategic Inputs: Assist in drafting briefing notes, talking points, funding proposals, and presentations to support the Gender function's objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong understanding of gender issues and their implications for development, particularly in the context of UNICEF's mission. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Proficiency in project management and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks related to gender programming are essential. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise reports.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role. Educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in gender equality and development issues, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's policies and frameworks.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in gender programming, project management, or a related field. Familiarity with gender equality strategies and frameworks, as well as experience in monitoring and evaluation, will be advantageous for applicants.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNICEF. Knowledge of Hindi or other local languages is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication and engagement with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 70,158.41, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 350 and relocation costs if applicable. Comprehensive insurance coverage for health, life, and malicious acts is provided, along with annual leave of 2.5 days per month and access to learning and career development resources.
