Job Overview: As a Senior Officer at IDB Invest, you will play a crucial role in the Corporates Division, which focuses on the origination and delivery of operations in sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, tourism, and the digital economy. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire transaction lifecycle, from identifying and selecting projects to executing and closing equity, quasi-equity, and debt transactions. You will evaluate lending and non-lending projects, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare project concept notes while assessing risks and advising on mitigation strategies. Your role will also involve developing innovative financial structures for complex transactions, maximizing potential for commercial co-financing, and coordinating with various internal teams to ensure successful project structuring and execution. You will lead and mentor junior team members, build networks with key partners, and contribute to industry research to guide business origination efforts aligned with IDB Invest's investment strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your duties as a Senior Officer will include:
Identifying, selecting, originating, executing, and closing equity, quasi-equity, and debt transactions.
Leading evaluations of lending and non-lending projects, including initial screenings and feasibility studies.
Developing innovative financial structures for complex transactions to maximize commercial co-financing potential.
Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and building financial models to support decision-making.
Coordinating with environmental, social, governance, finance, legal, and risk teams during project structuring and closing.
Executing transaction closings and verifying contractual conditions prior to disbursement.
Providing leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
Building networks with corporates, financial institutions, and government officials to develop investment opportunities.
Contributing to industry and market research to guide business origination efforts. 1

Required Qualifications: To qualify for the Senior Officer position, candidates must possess an advanced degree (Masters, MBA, or equivalent) in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, or a relevant field. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience as a bank officer responsible for loan origination, structuring, and portfolio management, with a proven track record in leading corporate and project finance transactions. Familiarity with financial institutions and loan syndication is considered a plus. Candidates must demonstrate a thorough understanding of finance and financial products, particularly in corporate and project financing, as well as an understanding of sector challenges and market dynamics in Latin America and the Caribbean. Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills are essential, along with a robust network of prospective clients and industry professionals.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have an advanced degree, such as a Master's degree or an MBA, in fields related to economics, finance, business administration, or engineering. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial transactions and the economic landscape in which IDB Invest operates.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in banking, specifically in loan origination, structuring, and portfolio management. This experience should include a confirmed track record in leading corporate and project finance transactions, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial products and market dynamics. Additional exposure to financial institutions and loan syndication will be advantageous.
Languages: Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in these languages is essential for engaging with clients and stakeholders. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of partners in the region.
Additional Notes: The position is a national staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement. Candidates must be eligible to work in the Dominican Republic without the need for sponsorship. Additionally, candidates should not have any family members working at IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab up to the fourth degree of consanguinity or second degree of affinity.
