Job Overview: The Finance Manager position at FHI 360 is pivotal for overseeing the financial operations of the EpiC project, specifically targeting Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) activities in Liberia. This role is crucial for managing the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that financial systems are effective and meet the needs of the division. The Finance Manager will play a significant role in risk management, developing strategies to mitigate financial risks, and ensuring compliance with USG regulations and Liberian laws. The position requires a proactive approach to financial reporting, data analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance project outcomes and ensure the efficient use of resources.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties including overseeing data collection and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting monthly financial reports, finalizing financial documentation for funders, developing a commitment tracker for invoices, and monitoring project expenditures in accordance with the work plan. The role also involves reviewing financial data for accuracy, ensuring timely retirement of advances, and collaborating with the Finance Lead to align budgets with project activities. The Finance Manager will participate in annual workplan and budget planning, manage financial systems, and perform other duties as assigned, requiring broad conceptual judgment and initiative.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts, financial controls, and financial information systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with strong organizational and project management abilities. The ability to influence and negotiate effectively is crucial, as is familiarity with state and federal laws impacting financial management. A sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required, along with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Business Administration, Information Management, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Operations, or a related field is required. Additional relevant training will be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5-8 years of related work experience, including at least 3 years in a management role and 3 years at the corporate or organizational level. Experience with complex awards and contracts, as well as managing sub-awards, is preferred. Candidates should have prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or an international organization, particularly with USG funding.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak proficiently. Additional language skills may be considered beneficial but are not required.
Additional Notes: FHI 360 offers a competitive compensation package, with an expected hiring salary range of USD 25,000 - 35,000 for the annual basic salary.
