Job Overview: The Principal Banker, Debt Mobilisation Sales and Advisory plays a crucial role in leading the efforts to mobilize capital for EBRD loan transactions. This position is primarily responsible for maximizing the Annual Mobilised Investment (AMI) through effective sales and risk transfer strategies. The role involves close collaboration with debt co-investment partners, including commercial banks, insurance companies, and asset managers. The Principal Banker will also support the Debt Mobilisation Product Development function, contributing to the strategic development of the team. The position requires a strong understanding of the financial markets and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and delivery of financial solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Banker will be responsible for several key duties, including:
Supporting the structuring of debt transactions to maximize mobilization, ensuring that loan amounts are optimized and co-investors are engaged effectively.
Delivering a minimum level of AMI and fee income annually, as set by management.
Leading primary and secondary mobilization activities within allocated sectors, ensuring smooth sales processes and adherence to procedures.
Preparing and coordinating information for potential co-financiers and negotiating documentation to secure timely financing for clients.
Maintaining strong relationships with client groups and providing regular updates on market trends and new products.
Training junior team members and contributing to their professional development.
Engaging in business development to attract new co-financing partners and optimizing existing mobilization products.
Participating in industry events and meetings to advance the Bank's mobilization mandate.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a relevant university degree or equivalent experience. Strong credit analysis skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial statements and understand accounting principles. Candidates should demonstrate strong quantitative skills, sound decision-making abilities, and high ethical standards. Excellent communication skills are required, with the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at various levels. Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in another major language is preferred. Prior experience in EBRD's countries of operations is advantageous.
Educational Background: A relevant university degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field is required. Candidates with equivalent professional experience in the financial sector may also be considered. Advanced degrees or certifications in finance or investment analysis are a plus.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in the financial industry, ideally from investment or commercial banks, private equity firms, or asset management companies. Experience managing transactions through to completion is crucial, along with a demonstrated understanding of loan markets, including syndicated loans, leveraged finance, or project finance. Familiarity with Climate Finance is considered an advantage, and relevant industry or country experience may be necessary depending on the specifics of the position.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in another major language is highly desirable, as it can enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and clients.
