Job Overview: The Multi-Core Competency Project Manager (Multi-CC PM) for Education & Protection activities is tasked with overseeing project management in accordance with the Project Cycle Management (PCM) framework. This role is crucial for managing staff dedicated to education and protection projects in West & Central Darfur, Sudan. The Multi-CC PM is responsible for ensuring that project work plans, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans, and procurement plans are developed and adhered to. The position involves leading the implementation of NRC’s education and protection programs, managing budgets, activities, and staff, and targeting vulnerable populations. The Multi-CC PM will also coordinate with stakeholders and partners, support program development and innovation, and ensure effective reporting and compliance for displaced populations. This role is integral to the Area Management Team and requires a strong commitment to the organization's mission and values.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Multi-CC PM will have a range of responsibilities including: line management of project staff, overseeing project budgets and activities, ensuring compliance with NRC policies, and managing the implementation of delegated Education and Protection projects. The PM will be responsible for workforce planning, recruitment, staff induction, and development, ensuring the Duty of Care for staff. The role includes developing and managing project budgets, contributing to fundraising efforts, and ensuring high technical quality in project implementation. The PM will also oversee the development of monitoring and evaluation plans, conduct protection and education assessments, and document protection risks while identifying strategies to mitigate them. Regular progress reports will be provided to the Area Manager and technical specialists, and the PM will represent NRC in relevant meetings and forums.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior project implementation role within a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly in project start-up phases. They should have demonstrated international experience in humanitarian settings, preferably in complex emergencies or conflict-affected areas. A Bachelor's degree in social and protection science or education is required, along with extensive technical experience in managing protection and education programs. Candidates should have documented experience in multiple sectors and project startups, as well as knowledge of their own leadership skills and profile. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, and working knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in social and protection science and/or education. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of protection and education programming in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in a senior project implementation position, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts. Experience in complex and volatile environments is crucial, as is a proven track record of managing diverse teams under pressure. Candidates should also have experience with protection case management and familiarity with case management databases.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. While not required, working knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: The position is based in West & Central Darfur, Sudan, with a salary grade of 8 under an international contract. The duration of the contract is 12 months, subject to renewal based on funding and performance. The role may require travel of 20-40%.
