Job Overview:
The Investment Specialist/Senior Investment Specialist position is a critical role within the Equity Investments Unit of the Private Sector Operations Department at ADB. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising various components of the investment team and portfolio management, contributing to the development of a top-tier equity asset and portfolio management function. The role involves originating new equity investments that align with ADB's development impact and financial objectives, managing key accounts, overseeing portfolio management, and leading strategic initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of equity markets, risk management, and the ability to lead negotiations with various stakeholders. The candidate will also be expected to facilitate relationships with financial intermediaries and institutional investors, ensuring that ADB's strategic objectives are met while maintaining compliance with environmental and social safeguards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Investment Specialist/Senior Investment Specialist include:
  • Origination and Processing: Originate new equity investments that meet ADB's development and financial goals, execute equity investments, manage the due diligence process, and provide advice on deal structuring and valuation.
  • Management of Key Accounts: Assume primary responsibility for assigned key accounts, approve necessary documents, and represent ADB's interests on the boards of investee companies.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the financial health and development impact of portfolio companies, ensure compliance with ADB's standards, and monitor key issues related to portfolio management.
  • Strategy and Planning: Lead and participate in various initiatives and change projects.
  • Knowledge Center for Governance, Risk Advisory, and Development Impact: Coordinate and expand programs that introduce best practices in corporate governance and risk management.
  • External Liaison and Knowledge Sharing: Build relationships with financial intermediaries and report on market trends.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead diverse teams, provide direction, and mentor team members to ensure their development and performance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, preferably at the post-graduate level. They should have at least 6 years of relevant professional experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or related fields, with international work experience in multiple countries. A deep understanding of equity markets, advanced valuation analysis, and risk management expertise is essential. Candidates should also have strong analytical and structuring capabilities, experience leading diverse teams, and the ability to negotiate effectively with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Business and/or Finance or relevant fields, with a preference for candidates holding a post-graduate degree or its equivalent. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding complex financial transactions and investment strategies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or related fields. Candidates should have experience working in international settings and possess a strong understanding of equity markets and investment products. Experience dealing with distressed assets is considered an advantage, as is a proven track record of leading teams with diverse skills.

Languages:
