Job Overview: The OHCHR Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa is seeking three online volunteers to assist with research on human rights violations. This position involves conducting open-source research on assigned human rights topics or incidents, utilizing publicly available information to prepare concise weekly summaries that highlight key findings, trends, and sources. Volunteers will work closely with legal reporting officers and desk officers, providing essential support in monitoring and analyzing human rights issues. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct open-source research on assigned human rights topics or incidents, utilizing publicly available information.

Collaborate closely with thematic advisors and the Public Information Officer to ensure accurate and relevant reporting.
Participate in discussions and meetings to share insights and findings with the team.
Stay updated on current human rights issues and developments in the region to inform research efforts.
Assist in the compilation and analysis of information related to human rights situations across the Middle East and North Africa.
Required Qualifications:
Strong interest in human rights issues and a commitment to promoting and protecting human rights.
Excellent research skills, with the ability to analyze and synthesize information from various sources.
Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise summaries.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Proficiency in using online research tools and databases.
Educational Background: A background in law, international relations, political science, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of human rights principles and frameworks, as well as relevant academic or professional experience in research or advocacy related to human rights.
Experience: While prior experience in human rights research is not mandatory, any relevant experience in research, advocacy, or work with civil society organizations will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage with complex human rights issues.
