Job Overview:
The Data Science Manager will lead the Product Analytics team within the Wikimedia Foundation, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director of Research and Decision Science. This role involves managing a team of data scientists who are responsible for providing insights that guide product strategies and decisions. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate quantitative data and insights to inform product strategies and guide decisions.
  • Manage a team of approximately seven data scientists, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Mentor team members in critical thinking, data storytelling, technical skills, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Experiment Platform and Data Engineering teams to build and maintain data products that enhance data accessibility.
  • Work closely with product teams, particularly product managers, to promote data-informed product development.
  • Continuously develop and improve best practices for experimentation, measurement, product health metrics, and reporting to enhance data interpretation and accessibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess deep experience in experimental design and statistics, particularly as applied to large-scale audience or user experience data. They should have a proven track record of collaborating with product development teams in fast-paced environments, as well as prior experience in people management. A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity is essential. Familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Spark is also required.
