The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Kyrgyzstan is part of the broader United Nations Country Team (UNCT) that operates in the country. The RCO plays a crucial role in coordinating UN activities and ensuring that the UN's efforts align with national priorities. The RCO is focused on transparency, accountability, and the effective implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023–2027, which aims to address the pressing challenges faced by Kyrgyzstan. Job Overview:
The Evaluation Support Intern will play a vital role in assisting the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kyrgyzstan with the independent evaluation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023–202
  • This internship is specifically designed for nationals of Kyrgyzstan and aims to provide valuable experience in evaluation processes within the UN system. The intern will support various aspects of the evaluation, including coordination among stakeholders, documentation management, data analysis, and communication efforts. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. The intern will gain hands-on experience in evaluation methodologies, stakeholder engagement, and data management, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the evaluation process and the strategic recommendations that will emerge from it.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Evaluation Process Support: Organizing meetings for the Evaluation Steering Committee and other related groups, scheduling interviews and focus group discussions, and maintaining evaluation calendars and stakeholder tracking tools.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Compiling and archiving evaluation-related documentation, maintaining an electronic repository of key documents, and assisting in quality control and file management.
  • Data and Analytical Support: Compiling quantitative and qualitative data, supporting data cleaning and analysis, and preparing summary tables and data visualizations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Support: Communicating with various stakeholders, preparing stakeholder lists and consultation plans, and monitoring participation.
  • Reporting and Communications Support: Drafting summaries and presentations, contributing to lessons learned documentation, and supporting visibility efforts related to evaluation milestones.
  • Administrative Support: Filing evaluation correspondence, tracking deadlines, and assisting with other evaluation management tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in or have recently completed a university degree in fields such as Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Data Analytics, or another relevant discipline. Strong organizational and coordination skills, attention to detail, analytical abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, are essential. Familiarity with data visualization tools and experience in research or evaluation activities are desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required, along with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a university program or have graduated within the past two years. They should be in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The field of study should closely relate to the internship position being applied for, and proof of enrollment or graduation must be provided with the application.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, they should have a field of study that is closely related to the internship. This means that relevant academic coursework or projects that demonstrate an understanding of evaluation processes, data management, or stakeholder engagement will be beneficial. The internship is designed to provide practical experience, and thus, a willingness to learn and contribute is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Russian, both oral and written, is required for this position, as these are the working languages of the United Nations in Kyrgyzstan. A working knowledge of Kyrgyz is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the intern's effectiveness in the role.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and all costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. Applicants must be at least 19 years old and under the age of 3
  • They must not have immediate relatives working in the UN Secretariat or UNRCO Kyrgyzstan. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and they are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. The UN does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, and applicants should be aware that the organization does not concern itself with information on applicants’ bank accounts.
