Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is based in the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Cabo Verde, specifically designed to support the communications and public information efforts of the office. The intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Officer and will be involved in various activities aimed at promoting the UN's initiatives and the Sustainable Development Goals. This role provides a unique opportunity for the intern to gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, digital outreach, and media monitoring, while contributing to the UN's mission in Cabo Verde. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of extending up to six months. Interns will engage in creating communication products, organizing public events, and raising awareness about the UN's results in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting the production of engaging communication products such as videos, infographics, and multimedia content; drafting and editing communication materials like press releases and social media posts; maintaining the UN Cabo Verde website and social media platforms; assisting in media monitoring and compiling information for press briefings; organizing communication-related events and public outreach activities; maintaining communication calendars and databases; and coordinating visibility activities with various stakeholders. The intern will also perform other related tasks as required by the supervisor, ensuring that all activities align with the internship's learning objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants for the UN Internship Programme are not required to have prior professional work experience. However, they must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree or enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, or have recently completed such programs. A field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Preferred areas of study include Communication, Journalism, Public Information, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Development Studies, Marketing, Digital Media, Multimedia Production, Social Sciences, or other related fields. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is necessary, along with the ability to draft audience-friendly content.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a relevant educational background, ideally in fields such as Communication, Journalism, Public Information, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Development Studies, Marketing, Digital Media, or Multimedia Production. They should be in their final year of study or have completed their degree, providing proof of their academic status with the application. This educational foundation will equip them with the necessary skills to effectively contribute to the communications efforts of the UN.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any academic, volunteer, or professional experience related to communications, journalism, social media, photography, video production, graphic design, public information, or event coordination will be considered an asset. Familiarity with website updates, social media management, and multimedia editing tools will also enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is required for this internship, as these are the primary working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of French and Spanish is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance the intern's ability to engage in various projects.
