Required Qualifications:
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, they must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, with preferred areas including International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics, Public Administration, Communication, International Development, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or Business Administration. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Skills in designing surveys and polls, as well as drafting news articles or social media posts, are desirable.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or having completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme. Preferred areas of study include advanced university studies in fields such as International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Economics, Public Administration, Communication, International Development, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or Business Administration. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of international development and partnerships.
Experience:
While professional work experience is not mandatory for this internship, any previous academic or volunteer experience related to the United Nations, development cooperation, research, communications, partnerships, or event coordination would be advantageous. Interns should demonstrate a strong interest in sustainable development, international cooperation, or multilateral affairs, and possess good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese would be considered desirable, enhancing the intern's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse linguistic environment of the UN.

- Developing presentations, infographics, visual briefs, and other communication products for RCO meetings, partnerships, and external engagements.
- Producing minutes, summary reports, and action trackers from meetings, conferences, workshops, and consultations.
- Supporting planning, coordination, and logistical preparations for RCO events, partnership meetings, and consultations.
- Assisting with social media outreach and broader communication efforts related to partnerships and normative themes.
- Conducting background research and supporting data collection, synthesis, and presentation related to partnerships and normative priorities, including gender equality initiatives.
- Maintaining partnership databases, stakeholder mappings, contact lists, and tracking commitments and follow-up actions.
- Supporting the implementation of the RCO’s normative workplan and inter-agency engagement related to normative priorities.
- Assisting with other ad hoc activities as deemed relevant and needed by the supervisor.
