Job Overview: The Editorial and Desktop Publishing Assistant plays a crucial role in the production and delivery of information communications products and services within the Marketing and Dissemination Unit. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting officers with visualizations and updating information materials, including web pages, brochures, and social media accounts. The role requires uploading publications to the digital repository and ensuring correct metadata and visualizations. The assistant will also be expected to perform daily maintenance of network drives, assist with data collection and analysis, and prepare data presentations and reports for information sharing and decision-making. The position may require rotating shifts and weekend on-call duties, as well as availability for overtime depending on service needs. Duties and Responsibilities: The Desktop Publishing Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing specialized assistance to officers in the production and delivery of information communications products; assisting with visualizations and updating information materials such as web pages and brochures; uploading publications to the digital repository and ensuring correct metadata; identifying and retrieving documents from the United Nations Official Documents System (ODS); performing daily maintenance of network drives; rotating in shifts and being available for weekend on-call duties; assisting with data collection and analysis; preparing data presentations and reports; and performing other related work as required. The assistant will also be expected to assist and replace more senior Desktop Publishing Assistants when needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in their role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, supplemental technical or university courses in marketing or a related area are required. The position requires at least five years of progressively responsible experience in digital publishing technologies, including draft typing, copy editing, proof-reading, and typographical layout. This minimum experience requirement is reduced to three years for candidates who hold a first-level university degree or higher. Professional experience in international organizations, particularly within the United Nations system, is desirable. Experience in producing digital content for social media and managing content on institutional websites is also preferred. Furthermore, one year or more of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
