Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Information Analyst Intern position is designed to provide support to the Operational Support Section (OSS) and Security Coordination Office (SCO) of IIIM. The intern will play a crucial role in enhancing the Mechanism's understanding of the security environment in Syria and its implications for personnel safety. This internship is an opportunity for individuals interested in security studies, international relations, and related fields to gain practical experience in a dynamic and challenging environment. The intern will be involved in monitoring security threats, conducting research, and contributing to the development of Security Threat and Risk Assessments (STRA). The intern will work closely with experienced professionals and will have the chance to contribute to meaningful work that supports accountability and justice for victims of serious crimes in Syria.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the security analysis functions of IIIM. Key responsibilities include conducting targeted open-source research to gather information on security developments, monitoring political and social factors that may impact safety, and maintaining situational awareness of the security environment in Syria. The intern will assist in the preparation and updating of STRA documentation, ensuring that assessments are accurate and reflective of current conditions. Additionally, the intern will identify trends and potential security implications through analytical reporting, prepare briefing materials and presentations, and contribute to periodic updates related to STRA findings. The intern is expected to handle sensitive information with discretion, complete tasks accurately and on time, and work effectively both independently and as part of a multicultural team. Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific educational requirements to be considered for the internship. Candidates should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). The field of study should be related to the internship, such as Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Intelligence Studies, Conflict Studies, International Security, or Criminology. While prior professional experience is not mandatory, a strong academic background in a relevant field is essential. Desirable qualifications include strong analytical and research skills, familiarity with open-source research methodologies, and the ability to synthesize complex information into concise reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required, along with the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.

Educational Background:

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, with regular working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months, starting as soon as possible. Interns are responsible for all related expenses, including travel, accommodation, and living costs. Candidates must secure any necessary visas to stay in Switzerland before beginning the internship. The IIIM will provide information and support for visa applications, but the responsibility lies with the selected candidate.
