The Cities Investment Facility (CIF) is a key initiative under UN-Habitat that facilitates capital flow into urban development projects, supporting them from ideation to financial closure.

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is focused on supporting the marketing and communications efforts of the Cities Investment Facility (CIF) within UN-Habitat. The intern will work closely with the Programme Manager and other team members to design and implement marketing strategies that promote CIF's initiatives. This role involves drafting and editing content for social media, conducting research on thematic issues, and assisting in the planning and production of marketing campaigns across various channels. The intern will also contribute to internal publications and prepare materials for public dissemination, ensuring that all content aligns with UN-Habitat's mission and branding guidelines. Additionally, the intern will engage in graphic design tasks, conceptualizing visuals and creating marketing collateral that effectively communicates CIF's objectives and projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of the overall marketing strategy for CIF.
  • Drafting, formatting, and editing social media content for the CIF social media calendar.
  • Conducting research on thematic issues relevant to urban development and sustainability.
  • Planning and producing marketing campaigns across CIF's social media channels.
  • Contributing to internal UN-Habitat publications and preparing specific content and materials for public dissemination.
  • Conceptualizing visuals based on ideas from the Communications and Project teams, developing graphs, infographics, and graphics.
  • Designing marketing collateral such as newsletters, brochures, posters, and social media graphics that adhere to CIF brand guidelines.
  • Ensuring consistent brand execution across all marketing materials.
  • Designing electronic invitations and event-related collateral. 1
  • Supporting social media campaigns and coordinating the production of short-form videos for social media use. 1
  • Conducting basic research on target audiences to inform design work.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with a Bachelor's degree, Master's, PhD, or equivalent. Additionally, applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing a willingness to understand and tolerate differing opinions and views.

Educational Background:
The preferred educational background for this internship includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Arts, Media, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or related fields. Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed a relevant degree. Strong writing skills, particularly in developing content for social media, articles, and newsletters, are required. Excellent IT skills, especially with design and graphic software such as Adobe and Canva, are also necessary.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong writing skills and proficiency in design software, which are critical for the successful execution of the internship responsibilities. Previous experience in marketing, communications, or graphic design, even at an academic level, will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN language, such as French, is desirable and may enhance the candidate's profile.
