During this period, the ATLAS detector will undergo significant upgrades, necessitating the installation and operation of complex cooling systems. The technician will be responsible for various tasks related to cooling systems, including installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance. This role requires working in a demanding environment, where attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount. The technician will engage with a variety of cooling mediums, such as water, CO2, and nitrogen, and will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Electromechanical Technician include:
Removing and disassembling existing cooling systems and components to facilitate upgrades.
Manufacturing, testing, and installing piping and manifold boxes essential for the cooling systems.
Performing maintenance, repairs, testing, and modifications on major cooling systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting issues that arise within the cooling systems and developing effective repair solutions.
Ensuring that all necessary safety measures are implemented on work sites to protect personnel and equipment.
Preparing and carrying out acceptance tests to validate the functionality of the cooling systems post-installation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess initial experience in piping system assembly and a basic understanding of cooling equipment. Some experience in metalwork and basic machining is desirable, as well as initial experience with electrical wiring and system connections. Familiarity with assembling mechanical structures and equipment is essential, along with the ability to understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams. A flexible mindset, teamwork skills, and a commitment to continuous learning are also important attributes for this role.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates should have graduated in Electromechanical Engineering or a related field, with a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a maximum of two years of professional experience in the relevant field since graduation. This experience should ideally be related to electromechanical systems, cooling systems, or similar technical areas.
