Job Overview:
This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the field of international development cooperation, specifically focusing on the Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) and the UN capacity development initiative on infrastructure asset management. The intern will work closely with the Development Cooperation Forum Team within the International Tax and Development Cooperation Branch (ITDCB) of FSDO. The role involves supporting the dissemination, outreach, and communication of analytical, policy, and capacity development work related to international development cooperation and infrastructure asset management. The internship is expected to last for a period of three months, with the possibility of extension up to six months, depending on departmental needs. The intern will be expected to engage in various communication and outreach activities, contributing to the UN's mission of promoting sustainable development and effective management of infrastructure assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of the DCF and the UN infrastructure asset management initiative. Key duties include: assisting in the development and execution of a comprehensive communication strategy; preparing and managing communication materials for various platforms; supporting the preparation of materials for workshops and high-level meetings; conducting research and contributing to data collection; participating in planning and coordinating events; engaging with stakeholders; tracking and reporting on communication strategies; staying updated with trends in marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing; and performing other communication-related tasks as assigned. The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member and will be expected to collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria, including being enrolled in or having completed a graduate school program or being in the final academic year of a first university degree program. Applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications and have a background in communications or journalism, which is desirable. While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must also demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level). A background in communications or journalism is preferred, and applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. The ability to draft news articles and social media posts is also desirable, along with skills in designing surveys and polls.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience in fields related to communications, journalism, or international development. The internship is designed for students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting, particularly within the context of the United Nations and its initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and proficiency in these languages will enhance the intern's ability to communicate effectively within the organization.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week. The duration of the internship is expected to be three to six months, with a start date in Summer 2026, although applicants interested in Spring 2027 are also encouraged to apply. The internship may offer a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA), allowing for remote, hybrid, or part-time work depending on the successful candidate's situation.
