This internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of communications within a global organization. The intern will be expected to draft, edit, and proofread various written materials, including reports, briefing notes, and correspondence for both internal and external audiences. Additionally, the intern will assist in developing social media content by drafting posts and adapting messaging for different platforms, ensuring that the communication outputs are engaging and effective. The role also involves conducting research and compiling information to enhance communication strategies, as well as maintaining organized records of working documents and finalized materials. The intern will report directly to the Special Assistant in the OUSG and may be required to provide support on additional tasks as needed, contributing to the overall mission of the DGC.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include:
Drafting, editing, and proofreading a variety of written materials, including reports, briefing notes, and correspondence for internal and external audiences.
Supporting the development of social media content by drafting posts and adapting messaging for different platforms.
Conducting research and compiling information to inform and strengthen communication outputs.
Maintaining organized records of working documents, finalized materials, and related assets.
Providing support on additional tasks for the Office of the Under-Secretary-General (OUSG) as required.
Collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication strategies are implemented.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
A field of study closely related to the internship is required.
Applicants must provide proof of their area of study and meet the educational criteria outlined.
Educational Background: Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. Programme. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern possesses the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to the communications field.
Experience: While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants should have a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship they are applying for. This allows the intern to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain valuable experience in the communications sector.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations.
