Job Overview: The Field Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the field base in Kharkiv, Ukraine, under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. This role involves close coordination with the Deputy Country Director for Programs, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Coordinator, and Support Coordinators. The Field Coordinator is tasked with ensuring the quality of programming across the field base's area of intervention, overseeing financial, HR, and logistical procedures, and promoting the integration of SI's core policies. Additionally, the Field Coordinator represents SI in local forums and coordination groups, manages various department heads, and is responsible for security management and context analysis in the operational area. The position is critical in navigating the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict and ensuring effective humanitarian response.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator's duties include:
Managing the overall strategy and quality of programming in the field base area.
Ensuring compliance with financial, HR, and logistical procedures.
Representing SI in local coordination groups and forums.
Directly managing the Logistics, Human Resources, Finance, MEAL, and Program managers, as well as the Field Coordinator assistant (Security).
Conducting security management and context analysis for the operational area.
Addressing human resources challenges, including staffing continuity and staff wellbeing in a volatile environment.
Strengthening coordination with senior management on fundraising and identifying new funding opportunities.
Consolidating localization strategies and partnerships.
Supporting timely implementation of winterization activities. 1
Adapting to a rapidly changing security context and ensuring operational flexibility.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master's degree in a humanitarian field and have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector. Experience in similar positions is preferred, with 0 to 2 years being acceptable. Technical skills required include relevant experience in field coordination and HR management, as well as security management in volatile environments. Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to handle pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, and communicate effectively across various stakeholders.
Educational Background: A master's degree in a relevant humanitarian field is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage complex humanitarian operations effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0 to 2 years in similar positions. This experience is crucial for understanding the challenges and dynamics of humanitarian work, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
Languages: Fluency in English at a C1 level is mandatory. Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered a plus, as it enhances communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: This is a salaried position with a starting gross salary of EUR 3,080 per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2,800 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of EUR 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. During the assignment, a system of alternating work and time off is implemented, allowing for breaks every three months, along with an additional rest day for each month worked. Living conditions include fully equipped accommodations in the suburbs of Kharkiv, with access to various amenities despite the risks associated with airstrikes.
