Job Overview: The Senior Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Officer will play a crucial role in the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project, which is a global health initiative funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Government (USG). This position is vital for providing technical support in project design, implementation, and quality assurance specifically in the areas of maternal, newborn, and child health. The officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring strategic initiatives related to MNCH and nutrition, focusing on life-saving interventions for pregnant women, newborns, and children. This includes overseeing antenatal care, postnatal care, emergency obstetric and newborn care, integrated community case management, and addressing acute malnutrition. The role also involves contributing to knowledge products and technical materials, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior MNCH Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including coordinating and implementing project activities within assigned territories, ensuring adherence to established standards and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include representing the project to health entities, designing and supervising project activities, overseeing partner activities, facilitating integration of partner efforts into local health processes, collecting data for monitoring and evaluation, participating in health roundtables, and supporting communication efforts by developing case studies and success stories. Regular reporting to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director on project progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement is also a critical aspect of this role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of technical support for research studies, development of scopes of work for partners, and broader knowledge of quality standards. Experience: Typically, candidates should have at least 6 years of relevant experience in managing data collection and providing technical assistance.
