Job Overview:
The Operations Analyst position at the World Bank is a critical role that supports the organization's efforts in Syria. The analyst will report to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and/or Operations Manager, providing essential operational, project, research, statistical, and analytical support to the Syria work program. This position is designed for a local term of two years, initially based in Jordan, with the expectation of relocating to Syria once the Country Liaison Office becomes operational. The role involves contributing to project design and implementation, conducting substantive research, maintaining databases, and preparing materials for various meetings and reviews. The Operations Analyst will also interact with government agencies and task teams to ensure effective implementation of the Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) and will play a key role in monitoring the portfolio and providing insights to management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Analyst will undertake a variety of tasks, including: contributing to operational activities at all stages of project design and implementation; conducting research and analytical tasks on country issues; maintaining informational databases; drafting project-related correspondence; reviewing budget planning; monitoring fund usage; assisting with client billing; preparing briefing materials for management visits; and supporting the formulation and implementation of the Country Partnership Strategy. The analyst will also coordinate with various teams to ensure alignment with broader strategies, analyze project outcomes, and support World Bank missions to Syria. Additional responsibilities may arise as needed, requiring flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor's degree and significant experience in fragile, conflict, and violence-affected environments may be considered. Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic are essential. Familiarity with World Bank Group operational procedures is desirable, as is the ability to quickly learn relevant practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual skills, knowledge of development evaluation methods, and the ability to engage in policy dialogue with stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered if they have significant demonstrated experience in relevant areas, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected environments. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to development, economics, public policy, or a similar discipline that supports the analytical and operational functions of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in operational roles, particularly in contexts related to development, project management, or policy analysis. Candidates with experience working in fragile or conflict-affected environments will be given preference, especially if they have direct experience in the duty country. The ability to demonstrate practical skills and knowledge gained through on-the-ground experience is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with local stakeholders and team members is essential. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary requirement is fluency in both English and Arabic to facilitate interactions and documentation.

The role is full-time and will initially be based in Amman, Jordan, with a planned relocation to Syria once the Country Liaison Office is operational.
