Job Overview: The World Health Organization is seeking to mobilize 1,000 Online Volunteers to support the World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) 2026 campaign. This campaign is focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine use, particularly among youth. Volunteers will play a crucial role in amplifying WHO-approved content across various digital platforms, engaging with online audiences, and promoting tobacco-free lifestyles. The campaign aims to counteract the manipulative tactics of the tobacco industry that target young people and to encourage healthier communities. Volunteers will have the opportunity to enhance their digital advocacy skills while collaborating with public health advocates and youth from different regions. They will also gain valuable experience in supporting a high-visibility WHO campaign and will receive official recognition for their contributions.
Duties and Responsibilities: As a Youth Online Volunteer, your responsibilities will include participating in virtual onboarding sessions, sharing campaign visuals and messages on social media, publishing content regularly according to the provided guidelines, promoting key campaign hashtags, encouraging discussions about the dangers of tobacco, extending outreach among youth networks and communities, adhering to ethical communication standards, providing progress updates, and submitting a final report summarizing your activities and outreach efforts. Your engagement will be vital in creating a large-scale digital movement that can reach millions and contribute to public health advocacy in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong interest in public health, digital advocacy, and community engagement. Familiarity with social media platforms and experience in content sharing and online communication are essential. Volunteers should demonstrate a commitment to ethical communication and respectful online behavior. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a virtual environment are also important. Previous experience in volunteer work or public health campaigns is a plus but not mandatory.
Educational Background: While there are no specific educational requirements, candidates pursuing or holding degrees in public health, communications, social sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience: No prior experience is required, but candidates should have a willingness to learn and engage with digital advocacy efforts.
