Job Overview:
The Scientific Data Manager position is a critical role within the Nuclear Data Section of the IAEA's Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications. This position is responsible for overseeing all computer-scientific aspects of the nuclear and atomic data libraries maintained by the section. The role involves data analysis, formatting, and dissemination, ensuring that the data is accessible and usable for member states and external organizations. The Scientific Data Manager will work closely with the Nuclear Data Section staff and report directly to the Section Head. The position requires a strong background in computational science, particularly in the context of nuclear and atomic data, and involves maintaining and updating Linux/MacOS-based computational servers. This role is essential for enhancing the capacity of member states to utilize nuclear techniques for development and environmental protection.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Scientific Data Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: developing innovative data streaming methods for visualization and atomic/nuclear data processing; coordinating and monitoring the section's servers managed by the MTIT section; maintaining and upgrading scientific software across all platforms; developing new approaches for data dissemination and computational networks; guiding member states and NDS staff in novel techniques for data dissemination; providing system support for scientific software and databases; ensuring availability of diagnostics and usage statistics; and assisting in the development and maintenance of nuclear/atomic databases and web-based services. The manager will also be expected to design scientific software applications and interactive tools to better serve users of atomic/nuclear data.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or an advanced university degree in nuclear or atomic physics, nuclear data management, or a related field. A minimum of seven years of working experience in scientific, commercial, national, or international organizations is required, particularly in the design and development of complex computational infrastructures for scientific computing and data dissemination. Candidates should have experience with Linux maintenance and web infrastructure, strong knowledge of secure coding techniques, and information security. Additionally, experience in database design, interface development, and scientific computer simulations is essential. Familiarity with scientific formatting and processing is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's Degree or an advanced university degree in nuclear or atomic physics, nuclear data management, or a closely related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of nuclear data and its applications in various scientific and technical contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in scientific, commercial, national, or international organizations. This experience should focus on the design and development of complex computational infrastructures that support scientific computing and data dissemination. Candidates should also have a strong background in Linux maintenance and web infrastructure, as well as experience in database management and scientific simulations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
