Job Overview: The Site Supervisor position at UNRWA involves overseeing all day-to-day activities at construction and maintenance project sites. The incumbent will supervise contractors to ensure that all work is executed in accordance with the Contract Documents, maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety, and gender requirements. The role requires monitoring the quality of materials and workmanship, ensuring compliance with specifications, and conducting necessary tests on materials. The Site Supervisor will also be responsible for evaluating and measuring the work executed by contractors, verifying payment requests, and ensuring conformity with executed quantities. Additionally, the incumbent will check and record working drawings, manage variation orders, and maintain records in the Facilities ManagementInformation System (FMIS). The position requires effective communication with supervisors and contractors to resolve technical difficulties and ensure safe execution of works. The Site Supervisor will also prepare technical and financial progress reports as needed, contributing to the overall success of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Site Supervisor include:
Managing all day-to-day activities at construction and maintenance project sites, ensuring compliance with Contract Documents.
Supervising contractor work to meet quality, health and safety, and gender requirements.
Monitoring material quality and workmanship, conducting necessary tests, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
Evaluating and measuring work executed by contractors, verifying payment requests, and submitting them for certification.
Ensuring correct levelling and surveying of construction sites, resolving technical difficulties in consultation with supervisors.
Checking and recording working, shop, and as-built drawings, documenting any deviations from original plans.
Preparing and discussing necessary variation orders and extensions of time with supervisors.
Maintaining records in the FMIS, including payments, variation orders, and project progress.
Preparing daily and weekly reports on technical and financial progress. 1
Approving contractor methods for safe execution of works. 1
Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Site Supervisor position include a university degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of construction and maintenance processes, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both languages, as per the UN Language Framework. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a 'Daily Paid' contract modality for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on need, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance. The position is classified at Grade 13, with a daily rate of 28.57 USD. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service.
