Job Overview: The National Consultant for Private Sector Engagement will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women's efforts to strengthen engagement with the private sector in Albania. This position involves providing technical advice on how companies can contribute to gender equality and women's empowerment, aligning their operations with UN Women's thematic priorities. The consultant will be responsible for identifying potential partner companies, facilitating outreach, and developing partnerships that support UN Women's initiatives. The role requires a strategic approach to engage with both existing and prospective partners, ensuring that their contributions are meaningful and aligned with the organization's goals. The consultant will also be involved in organizing events, preparing company briefs, and contributing to reports and knowledge products that highlight the impact of private sector engagement in advancing gender equality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's responsibilities will include maintaining and updating a mapping of private sector actors in Albania, conducting sector and company-level analyses to identify entry points for advancing gender equality, and advising companies on practical actions they can take. The consultant will conduct due diligence and assessments of potential partners, provide technical advice on integrating gender equality into business practices, and develop targeted outreach and engagement plans. Additionally, the consultant will organize events and workshops, maintain a tracking system of partnerships, and prepare briefs and reports as required. Other duties may include supporting company-level assessments and identifying tailored collaboration opportunities within initiatives related to women's entrepreneurship.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, particularly in assessing gender-related issues within socio-economic contexts. They should have the ability to identify and analyze relevant stakeholders and assess their roles and influence. Experience in conducting organizational assessments and applying due diligence processes is essential. The consultant should be capable of providing technical advice on integrating gender equality considerations into policies and programs, with a good understanding of institutional drivers linked to gender equality objectives. Excellent communication skills, including social media and writing abilities, are necessary, along with a strong initiative and the ability to work independently.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in business administration, economics, international development, public administration, gender studies, communications, or other relevant social sciences is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a related field combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience or engagement with private sector actors in Albania is required. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of key economic sectors, including banking, tourism, manufacturing, and ICT. At least 5 years of professional experience engaging with or analyzing the Albanian private sector is necessary, along with demonstrated experience in conducting company-level assessments and integrating gender equality into organizational practices. Familiarity with the UN system or other international organizations is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Albanian, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, with missions to target municipalities as part of the project. The position may involve full-time or part-time engagement, depending on the needs of the project and the consultant's availability.
