Job Overview: The Education Project Coordinator will manage and implement a portfolio of education projects, ensuring that all activities align with the organization's proposals, strategies, and donor requirements. This role involves overseeing project documentation, budgets, and ensuring high technical quality in project delivery. The coordinator will be responsible for providing regular progress reports to the line manager and the Education Specialist, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and guidelines. The position requires active participation in education working group meetings and collaboration with various stakeholders at the area office and county level. The coordinator will also be involved in planning, monitoring, and implementing funds related to basic education, youth training, and teacher training, providing technical support to project officers under their supervision. This role is crucial in ensuring that educational activities are effectively executed and that they meet the needs of the target beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and implement delegated portfolio of education projects, ensuring adherence to proposals, strategies, and donor requirements.
Provide regular progress reports to the line manager and Education Specialist.
Ensure compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
Ensure proper filing of project documents.
Identify and assess new ways to assist target beneficiaries.
Participate in education working group meetings and workshops.
Plan, monitor, and implement funds related to basic education and youth training.
Coordinate assessments and follow-ups at the field level. 1
Develop and submit timely activity plans and reports. 1
Assist in the development of operational plans, proposals, and budgets. 1
Monitor and evaluate education activities for consistency with plans and NRC policies. 1
Ensure timely procurement and distribution of educational materials. 1
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management or coordination, preferably in the education sector.
Demonstrated experience in education projects focused on equity and inclusion.
Strong knowledge of Kenya’s education system and policies, particularly at the primary level.
Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including government and NGOs.
Practical experience in planning and executing education projects in humanitarian contexts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Sound knowledge of human rights and humanitarian protection principles. 1

Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, project management, or a related field is required for this position.
