Job Overview:
The Education Officer position is crucial for the effective implementation of education projects within the organization. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of educational initiatives, ensuring that they align with the strategic objectives set forth by the Education Team Leader. The Education Officer will be responsible for supervising education assistants, facilitating training programs, and collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to enhance educational outcomes for children in conflict-affected areas. The officer will also engage in regular field visits to monitor project progress, assess educational needs, and provide support to teachers and educational personnel. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a challenging environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will carry out a variety of duties, including but not limited to: implementing education activities as directed by the Education Project Team Leader, supervising and supporting education assistants, developing and maintaining effective filing systems, conducting education needs assessments, organizing and facilitating training sessions for teachers and education personnel, supporting the development of training materials, participating in assessments and data analysis, monitoring project spending and procurement processes, and maintaining positive relationships with educational stakeholders. The officer will also be responsible for documenting technical issues and ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines, as well as reporting any violations of the Code of Conduct or Child Safeguarding concerns to the line manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of the educational needs and challenges faced by conflict-affected children and teachers. They should have experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, with a proven ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with proficiency in English, Arabic, and any local languages spoken in the area of operation. Candidates should also have solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, and demonstrate the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines effectively. Previous supervisory experience and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also required.

Educational Background:
A university degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with advanced degrees or significant experience in education, psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, or child protection may be considered in lieu of formal educational qualifications. Understanding the educational landscape and the specific needs of children in conflict-affected areas is critical for success in this role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have significant experience in the field of education, particularly in contexts affected by conflict. Experience leading or facilitating structured training sessions is essential, as is a background in child protection and psychosocial support. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and educators, and experience at the community education development (CED) level is a plus. Previous experience in supervising teams and building the capacity of others is also highly valued.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic and other local languages spoken in the area of operation is considered advantageous. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, community members, and government officials.
