Job Overview:
The Protection Project Manager will lead NRC’s protection programs in North Darfur, Sudan, with a primary focus on the Protection from Violence (PfV) portfolio. This role is crucial for ensuring effective project cycle management and high-quality program delivery in alignment with NRC strategies and donor requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and providing technical guidance to project staff, thereby enhancing their capacity. Strong coordination, communication, and advocacy skills are essential, as the role involves engaging with various stakeholders and ensuring timely and accurate reporting on program progress and challenges. The Protection Project Manager will oversee the implementation and coordination of protection programs, ensuring that they are delivered with quality and in accordance with NRC’s strategic objectives and donor expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Project Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the implementation and coordination of protection programs, managing project staff, budgets, and activities, overseeing protection monitoring, case management, and referrals, and ensuring that assistance targets the most vulnerable populations. The role also involves contributing to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and needs assessments, strengthening the capacity of staff and partners, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring effective reporting, advocacy, and compliance. Specific duties include developing, coordinating, and managing Protection Core Competency (CC) projects, documenting protection risks, overseeing protection monitoring and case management, participating in needs assessments, and maintaining close coordination with the Country office and Area Office M&E Team. The Protection Project Manager will also be responsible for preparing all project operational documents in a timely manner and promoting the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in overseeing project implementation in a humanitarian or violent context. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments, including protracted displacement, is essential. The ability to manage teams across multiple office locations is required, along with strong analytical skills to integrate quantitative and qualitative data from various sources. A good understanding of international standards and fundamental concepts of protection is necessary, as well as knowledge of one's own leadership skills and profile. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while speaking Arabic is considered a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a relevant degree in social sciences, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in protection or humanitarian response may be advantageous and will be considered favorably during the selection process.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in project management within humanitarian contexts, particularly in protection-related roles. Experience in complex and volatile settings, including protracted displacement situations, is crucial for success in this position. Proven ability to manage teams effectively and to work collaboratively with various stakeholders is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders effectively.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in North Darfur, Sudan, specifically in Tawila. The contract duration is for 1 year on a fixed-term basis, with a salary aligned to grade 8 of NRC’s international pay scale. The role may require travel of approximately 30-40%.
