Job Overview: The Financial Operations Officer is responsible for managing a high volume of financial transactions daily, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the policies of both the Bank and its donors. This role requires close collaboration with various internal and external clients, utilizing multiple systems to meet strict deadlines. The officer will be tasked with verifying data accuracy, providing guidance to budget officers, and ensuring adherence to financial policies. The position is integral to maintaining the financial integrity of the Bank's operations and involves preparing reconciliations, processing claims, and overseeing cost recovery processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Financial Operations Officer include checking Bank and Donor funded invoices against contracts to ensure compliance, providing guidance to staff on financial policies, liaising with clients to resolve queries, and posting financial transactions accurately. The officer will analyze travel and expense claims, prepare monthly account reconciliations, and oversee the financial overview of Resident Offices. Additionally, the officer will manage the cost recovery process, prepare claims for tax recovery, authorize payment requests, and implement improvements to financial procedures. The role also involves producing reports and providing training to new team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree and demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills. Previous experience with SAP is desirable, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure, and experience in the finance sector are essential. Familiarity with contractual documentation is advantageous, and fluency in English is mandatory, with additional languages being beneficial.
Educational Background: A degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as the ability to interpret complex financial documents and contracts.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in a finance-related role, particularly in environments that require strict adherence to deadlines and accuracy. Experience in financial operations, particularly within international organizations or banks, will be highly regarded. Familiarity with financial software and systems, especially SAP, is a plus.
