Job Overview:
The Human Mobility Hub (HMH) is a pioneering initiative launched by NRC in 2023, aimed at enhancing the protection and assistance provided to people on the move in North Africa. The HMH is currently transitioning from a pilot phase, which involved extensive co-designing and co-implementing solutions with local organizations, host communities, and the displaced individuals themselves. As the Human Mobility Hub Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational management, and partnership development of the HMH. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker who can effectively translate innovative ideas into actionable plans, foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and represent NRC as a principled humanitarian actor. The director will play a crucial role in ensuring that the HMH is institutionalized by the end of 2026, with a focus on sustainability and long-term impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Human Mobility Hub Director, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Driving long-term sustainability planning with partners, exploring pathways for the handover of projects or continued growth.
  • Ensuring high-quality implementation of partner-led projects and initiatives across various sectors, including education, legal assistance, and emergency response.
  • Promoting innovation, learning, and documentation across all areas of work to enhance the effectiveness of the HMH.
  • Leading networking, representation, and advocacy efforts, bringing together diverse local and international stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for the HMH.
  • Overseeing an organizational review to identify replicable practices and models that can inform NRC's future engagement in similar contexts.
  • Collaborating closely with the NRC MENA Regional Team to align the HMH's objectives with broader organizational goals and strategies.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the position of Human Mobility Hub Director, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A relevant qualification at the master’s level in a field pertinent to the humanitarian sector.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant managerial experience, specifically focused on innovation within the humanitarian or social good sector, including at least 5 years in a senior management or country director role.
  • Extensive experience working with local actors and communities, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams of technical experts, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Strong representation skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at a strategic level.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while proficiency in French and Arabic is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in challenging access contexts and managing remote operations, particularly in protracted displacement settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of the context of North Africa and the MENA region is essential for this role.

Educational Background:

The salary and benefits for this role are classified under Grade 12 on NRC’s salary scale.
