Job Overview: The National Programme Officer will play a crucial role in coordinating the implementation of the UN-REDD Programme at the Indonesia level. This position requires close collaboration with government entities and partners to ensure smooth execution of the programme's objectives. The officer will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the programme's progress, analyzing relevant documents, and identifying issues that need to be addressed. The role also involves conducting research, facilitating workshops, and developing action plans to manage changes effectively. The officer will coordinate policy development related to REDD+ and forest carbon markets, prepare evaluations and research activities, and generate survey initiatives to collect and analyze data. Additionally, the officer will prepare written outputs, provide substantive support for meetings and conferences, and lead outreach activities, including training workshops and presentations on REDD+ topics. The position requires a proactive approach to data collection and analysis, ensuring that all relevant information is documented and utilized for decision-making.
Developing, implementing, and evaluating the UN-REDD Programme in Indonesia, including monitoring and analyzing programme/project development and implementation.
Performing consulting assignments in collaboration with clients, planning and facilitating workshops, and assisting in developing action plans.
Researching, analyzing, and presenting information from diverse sources.
Coordinating REDD+ and forest carbon market policy development, including reviewing and analyzing issues and trends.
Generating survey initiatives, designing data collection tools, and interpreting responses to prepare conclusions.
Organizing and preparing written outputs, such as background papers, analyses, and sections of reports.
Providing substantive backstopping to consultative meetings, including proposing agenda topics and preparing documents.
Initiating and coordinating outreach activities, conducting training workshops, and making presentations on REDD+ topics.
Leading or participating in field missions, providing guidance to external consultants and drafting mission summaries. 1

Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in forest policy, forest management, natural resources management, international development, environmental economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with an additional two years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of REDD+ and forest carbon markets, as well as the ability to analyze and resolve issues effectively. Professionalism, teamwork, planning and organizing skills, and client orientation are essential competencies for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as forest policy, forest management, natural resources management, international development, or environmental economics. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted. Completion of programs in data analytics or related fields is also desirable.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management related to forest management, REDD+, and forest carbon markets in Indonesia is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of high-level governmental engagement, policy advisory support, and multi-stakeholder facilitation. Experience working with the United Nations or similar international organizations in the Asia Pacific region is desirable, along with familiarity with various research sources, including electronic databases. Additionally, two or more years of experience in data analytics or related areas is preferred.
Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Bahasa is required. According to the UN Language Framework, candidates should have at least Level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, but for this specific job opening, English and Bahasa are mandatory.
