Job Overview:
The Launch Service Market Demand Expert will report to the Head of Collective Launch Service support function within the Strategy and Institutional Launches Directorate of Space Transportation (STS). This role is crucial for shaping Europe’s space transportation strategy by providing high-quality, data-driven market intelligence. The expert will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of launch service market demand, which will inform the ESA Executive and Member States about the institutional and commercial demand available to European launch service providers. The position requires a proactive approach to anticipate market evolutions, identify strategic demand segments, and support decision-making processes related to procurement planning, design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, and long-term development of space transportation capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Launch Service Market Demand Expert include: monitoring and collecting information on global space transportation demand, including institutional, commercial, and emerging NewSpace segments; identifying and analyzing relevant information to assess future launch service market demand accessible to European providers; maintaining and improving the ESA launch service market demand database, ensuring data quality and analytical usability; performing yearly market demand assessments to provide comprehensive analyses of global demand, key drivers, and market trends; conducting on-demand analyses to support strategic planning and procurement activities; providing regular reports and briefings on developments related to space transportation services; and designing and maintaining analytical tools and methods to respond to market demand-related requests.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an in-depth understanding of global space transportation demand and expertise in the management and improvement of market demand databases. They should have strong data analysis and modeling capabilities, as well as the ability to produce high-quality analytical reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related data processing tools is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate result orientation, operational efficiency, fostering cooperation, relationship management, continuous improvement, and forward-thinking skills.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in engineering or a business discipline is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of space transportation and market dynamics.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the field of space transportation or a related area. This level of experience is necessary to effectively analyze market demand and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.

Languages:
The working languages of ESA are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is mandatory, while knowledge of another Member State language would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The position is a four-year appointment, extendable to indefinite. Recruitment will generally be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4), but candidates with less than four years of relevant experience may be considered for an A1 level position.
