Job Posting Organization:
The Peacebuilding Impact Hub is part of the UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO) within the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). Established in 2023, the Hub aims to enhance collaboration among various stakeholders including the UN, civil society, local peacebuilders, governments, and academia. Its mission is to generate evidence, foster shared learning, and improve the measurement and communication of peacebuilding impacts. The organization operates globally, focusing on effective peacebuilding interventions and strategic investments.

Job Overview:
The Individual Contractor will play a crucial role in delivering a range of activities and outputs across the Peacebuilding Impact Hub’s workstreams, particularly emphasizing data, evidence, convening, and capacity building. This position involves project management and coordination responsibilities, as well as substantive contributions to peacebuilding, impact measurement, and data analysis. The contractor will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer/Team Leader and will contribute to the Hub's initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of peacebuilding efforts through data-driven insights and collaborative partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data Management: Lead the development of the Hub’s ‘Peacebuilding Data Platform’ initiative, which includes strategic planning, project management, and coordination with technical teams to ensure the platform meets functional requirements. Conduct user testing and consultations to refine the platform's features and usability. Oversee the launch and ongoing activities related to the platform.
  • Evidence Generation: Coordinate activities that generate evidence, such as ‘Impact Spotlight’ exercises, and collaborate with various stakeholders to design and implement these initiatives. Develop knowledge products that enhance the understanding and communication of peacebuilding impacts.
  • Convening and Capacity Building: Establish and maintain partnerships with civil society organizations, UN entities, and academic institutions to strengthen the community of practice in peacebuilding impact measurement. Organize outreach activities, including training sessions and workshops, to disseminate knowledge and best practices.
  • Additional Contributions: Support office-wide initiatives such as the annual CSO-UN Dialogue and Peacebuilding Week, and prepare written outputs including background papers and reports as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as conflict and peace studies, political science, or international relations. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, or related areas is essential. Experience in managing complex projects, particularly those related to data and evidence, is required, along with a proven track record of building partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) is preferred, ideally in conflict and peace studies, political science, international relations, or related fields. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, or related fields. Candidates should have experience managing complex projects, particularly those involving data and evidence, and a history of successful partnership building with various stakeholders, including UN entities and civil society organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders.
