Job Overview:
The Associate Software Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting and implementing software solutions that align with the organizational needs of the IAEA's Department of Safeguards. This position requires a technical specialist who is involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to software testing and implementation. The role also involves collaborating with team members and stakeholders to ensure that software solutions meet the required standards and are effectively maintained. The Associate Software Engineer is expected to contribute to various projects, continuously improve processes, and develop innovative solutions to enhance the Department's capabilities in safeguarding nuclear materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Software Engineer will be responsible for aligning with team members and stakeholders on software requirements, designing software solutions according to architectural guidelines, and implementing software that meets the specified requirements. The role includes providing maintenance and technical support for existing software systems, preparing documentation, supporting acceptance testing, and conducting user training. Additionally, the Associate Software Engineer will collaborate with other IT specialists, contribute to projects, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the Department's software solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. An internationally recognized certification in software engineering or development is desirable. The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in developing web and/or data-driven applications, with proficiency in web development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, XML, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like Angular. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or .Net/C#, as well as experience with relational database management systems and SQL, is essential. Knowledge of Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM or Kanban, is also required. Experience with additional frameworks, NoSQL solutions, and other programming languages is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is mandatory for this position. Candidates with additional certifications in software engineering or development will have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The Associate Software Engineer should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in software development, particularly in creating web and data-driven applications. This experience should include working with various web development technologies and programming languages, as well as familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $56,046, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
