The Climate Change Division is dedicated to delivering effective strategic guidance and high-impact actions that support the transition towards climate stability. This role is crucial as it involves working closely with Member States and partners to accelerate and support a just transition by addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation. The intern will be expected to contribute to various ongoing programs, including the Digital Demand Driven Electricity Networks Initiative (3DEN), Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF), and EmPower II. The intern will also assist in developing presentations, project proposals, and communication materials, thereby playing a vital role in enhancing the implementation capacity and resilience of countries in the face of climate change.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Finance Unit's objectives. These include:
Assisting in the implementation of ongoing Unit programs, such as 3DEN, SCAF, and EmPower II.
Developing presentations for meetings with prospective partners and creating project proposals for various activities undertaken by the Finance Unit.
Conducting research and analysis in preparation for publications with project partners, which may include governments, academic institutions, and environmental organizations, to develop best practices and policy recommendations.
Supporting the development of communication outreach materials for both print and online media.
Assisting in the organization of events, which includes sending invitations to participants and speakers, developing agendas, and preparing printed materials.
Engaging in collaborative efforts with team members to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A preferred area of study includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Finance, International Relations, Environmental Policy, Economics, Development, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should possess fully proficient computer skills and be adept at using web-based platforms and relevant software, including word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, and internal databases.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or being enrolled in or having completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. The ideal candidate should have a field of study that closely relates to the internship position, particularly in areas such as finance, environmental policy, or international relations.
Experience: While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, it is essential that their field of study is closely related to the type of internship they are applying for.
