Job Overview: The position of Extended Term Consultant (ET Consultant) at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, focuses on supporting business development and client relationship management activities within the Forestry and Wood Product cluster. The consultant will be responsible for conducting market analysis and mapping exercises to identify new target sponsors and clients in Western Europe. This role involves performing desktop reviews of potential clients, including detailed financial and credit analysis, and preparing pitchbooks and marketing materials for client meetings. The consultant will also support client relationship management and, upon successful origination with Western European sponsors, will have the opportunity to structure and execute transactions. The position is based in Paris and reports to a senior member of the investment team, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and effective communication in achieving the organization's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the E T Consultant include, but are not limited to: conducting industry and market research to assist in IFC’s business development efforts; analyzing historical and projected financial statements; reviewing company, economic, and financial information and preparing reports on periodic financial statements and project progress; preparing documentation for IFC internal processes, including early screening and investment/credit committee memorandums; preparing client pitchbooks and marketing presentations; participating in investment negotiations, particularly in early structuring; identifying data points needed to support investment assessments in various areas including financial, market, development impact, and ESG; preparing presentations and maintaining internal reporting materials.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Science, Engineering, or other relevant fields. Candidates should have at least 2 years of work experience in business and/or finance, such as business consulting or investment banking. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative solutions. Candidates must possess strong credit analysis skills and the ability to develop complex financial models, as well as a basic understanding of key aspects of investment transactions, including technical, industrial, financial, environmental, social, governance, and development impact considerations. A good understanding of financial aspects of investment transactions and the ability to conduct market analysis is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Science, or Engineering. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of investment transactions and the financial markets.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience in business and/or finance. This experience can be gained through roles in business consulting, investment banking, or similar fields, where candidates have developed strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial transactions.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in at least one other European language. This requirement is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
