Job Overview: The Principal, GET Banker position is pivotal in supporting and expanding the EBRD's activities related to climate change and resource efficiency technologies. The role involves identifying and developing dedicated projects and innovative financing schemes that align with the Paris Agreement. The Principal will assist corporate clients in transitioning towards low-carbon pathways, contributing to direct investment projects, policy dialogue, and capacity building activities. This position requires close collaboration with various internal teams and sector bankers to ensure the successful execution of the bank's climate strategy and to drive performance excellence in the corporate sector.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal, GET Banker will be responsible for leading the implementation of the EBRD's climate strategy, focusing on assisting clients in achieving a transformative shift towards low-carbon pathways. Key responsibilities include enabling pipeline development for eligible projects, supporting all stages of project development, identifying investment opportunities in climate and sustainable resource technologies, and ensuring good coordination among internal teams. The Principal will also manage project implementation, monitor progress, supervise consultants, and support policy dialogue activities related to industrial decarbonization. The role demands a high standard of task completion in line with EBRD policies and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a relevant degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical, environmental, or chemical engineering. A solid technical and commercial background with 5-10 years of experience in engineering, consulting, or sectors like energy and manufacturing is essential. Experience in a financial institution is also required, along with a proven track record in project development and implementation. Strong quantitative skills, credit analysis capabilities, and a good understanding of the Paris Agreement are critical. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical skills, computer literacy, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in engineering is mandatory for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or additional certifications in finance, environmental science, or related fields may have an advantage. The educational background should ideally reflect a strong foundation in both technical and commercial aspects relevant to the role.
Experience: The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience, ideally combining technical expertise in engineering with commercial experience in sectors such as energy, chemicals, or construction. Experience in financial institutions, particularly in roles related to project development and implementation, is crucial. Candidates should have a demonstrable track record of successful project structuring and execution.
