Job Overview: The EBRD Turkey Energy Team is looking for a dedicated and skilled Analyst to join their growing team in Istanbul. This position is crucial for supporting the Energy Sector team in Turkey, contributing to various phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, negotiations, execution, and monitoring. The Analyst will report directly to the Regional Head of Energy and Principal Banker, taking on responsibilities that include conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and participating in legal analysis and documentation. The role is designed to allow the Analyst to progressively take on more complex tasks, thereby enhancing their transaction expertise and expanding their responsibilities within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will work under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker, contributing to project structuring and execution. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive research and analysis of market information and financial performance data, evaluating potential risks associated with proposed projects, and preparing financial models and projections. The Analyst will assist in the design and processing of technical cooperation assistance, prepare internal project documentation, and communicate with internal units, clients, and stakeholders. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor project implementation, assess evolving risk factors, and prepare monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions. The role also involves assisting with the effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments, ensuring compliance with donor reporting requirements, and performing tasks as assigned by the operation leader.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and develop financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills and a solid understanding of local and international accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages is required, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, and a good command of the Turkish language is also required.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum educational qualification, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, economics, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are considered advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, which may include roles in investment or commercial banking, private equity, asset management, or auditing/financial consulting firms that operate to international standards. Experience in project finance and corporate finance is essential, and exposure to the energy sector, particularly renewable energy, is highly desirable. Practical experience in participating in transactions throughout the full project life cycle is also preferred, along with familiarity with the Turkish energy market.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills required. A good command of the Turkish language, both oral and written, is also necessary for effective communication within the team and with local stakeholders.
