Job Overview:
The position of Copy Editor at UNEP FI is crucial for ensuring the clarity and quality of reports related to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance. The copy editor will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including financial institutions, to promote sustainable finance practices. The role involves reviewing and editing draft reports, ensuring that they meet high standards of readability and coherence. The copy editor will also draft summaries for the UNEP FI website, contributing to the dissemination of important findings and guidance on climate risk management and sustainable finance. This position is vital for supporting UNEP FI's mission to integrate sustainability into financial market practices and to enhance the understanding of climate-related risks among financial institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The copy editor will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Reviewing and editing draft reports from Phase III of the TCFD programme and associated reports for the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance.
  • Ensuring that all written content is clear, concise, and grammatically correct, with a focus on tone and coherence.
  • Drafting selected sections of reports as needed, contributing to the overall content and structure.
  • Conducting a final copy-edit of reports to ensure they are publication-ready.
  • Creating brief report summaries for the UNEP FI website to communicate findings effectively to a broader audience.
  • Collaborating with the Head of UNEP FI and the Head of Climate to align editorial work with organizational goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in communications, writing, English, economics, environment, finance, business administration, or management. Additional academic qualifications in related fields are considered relevant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing and writing, particularly in contexts related to sustainability and finance. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this role, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as communications, writing, English, economics, environment, finance, or business administration is required. Additional qualifications in non-finance specific fields may also be beneficial. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in writing and editing, with an emphasis on clarity and effective communication.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in editing, writing, or communications. This experience should ideally include work with international programs and a focus on sustainable finance and climate risks. A proven track record of supporting diverse stakeholder groups, particularly within the financial sector, is highly desirable. The ability to navigate complex topics and present them clearly to various audiences is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of additional United Nations languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and materials.

Additional Notes:
This position is remote and is expected to last for a duration of 8 months. The role is full-time, and the consultant will work under the supervision of the Head of UNEP FI, reporting directly to the Head of Climate.
