Job Overview: As the Area logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient management of logistical resources in the country or intervention area assigned to you. Reporting to the Country Logistics Manager, you will serve as the primary contact for logistical issues, informing the manager of any problems and proposing solutions within your area of responsibility. This role is crucial in deploying and implementing HI's logistical standards, which involve restructuring the logistics positioning within the organization and affirming the principles of the logistics profession. Your main missions will include managing the logistics team, defining the logistics strategy (Facility & Supply Chain), and overseeing the implementation of operational logistics, including general services, supply chain, storage, and IT.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your duties will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Management of the logistics team, ensuring effective performance and development of team members.
Defining the logistics (Facility & Supply Chain), IT, and storage components of the strategy and leading the corresponding action plan.
Deploying standards and contributing to HI's expertise and accountability within your scope.
Implementing operational logistics through various phases: diagnostic analysis, resource planning, launch planning, coordination during implementation, and closure.
Promoting the logistics profession by disseminating professional standards, nurturing a talent pool, and contributing to the evolution of the logistics profession within the organization.
Preparing for and responding to emergencies, ensuring readiness and effective response mechanisms.
Conducting internal controls to maintain operational integrity and efficiency.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must have at least 3 years of professional experience in logistics within an international NGO. Proven experience in training and transferring skills, as well as writing logistical procedures, is essential. You should have management experience, demonstrating your ability to foster independence and development among your team members. Additionally, you must possess essential professional skills, including knowledge of procurement procedures, stock management, vehicle fleet management, and management of equipment and facilities. Comfort in monitoring, responding to, and preparing for emergencies is also required.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is necessary for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or certifications in logistics or project management will be preferred, as they demonstrate a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in logistics operations.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics management, particularly within the context of international NGOs. Experience in emergency response logistics and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments will be highly valued. Proven track record in managing logistics teams and projects, as well as experience in training and capacity building, is essential.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the region. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, as it facilitates communication with international stakeholders and partners. Knowledge of local languages may also be beneficial in enhancing community engagement and understanding.
Additional Notes: The position is a 12-month international contract starting in late May or early June 2026, based in Goma. The international contract includes a comprehensive social coverage tailored to individual needs, including unemployment insurance for EU nationals, retirement insurance, health coverage, repatriation, and other benefits. The salary starts at €2750 gross per month, depending on professional experience, with additional allowances such as a per diem of €677 net per month, hardship allowance of €500 net per month, and 25 days of paid leave annually. The position is non-accompanied, with collective housing provided by HI. If you are a resident of the country, a local package will be offered.
