Job Overview:
The position of Driver at UNFPA is crucial for the effective management of operations within the organization. The driver will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and timely transport of passengers, messages, and goods, thereby supporting the overall mission of UNFPA. The individual consultant will work under the guidance of the Operations Manager and will be directly supervised by the HR and Admin Associate. This role requires close collaboration with the Operations Unit and the larger UNFPA Programme and Operations Teams, utilizing both UNFPA and national systems to achieve development results. The consultancy is set for a duration of nine months, from March to December 2026, and the driver will be called upon as needed to fulfill the responsibilities associated with this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Driver include:
  • Safely transporting UNFPA staff to various destinations according to a predetermined schedule.
  • Ensuring the regular and prompt delivery of administrative services, including the transportation of outgoing mail and office supplies.
  • Actively participating in the scheduling of vehicle services and maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Maintaining a daily logbook that records mileage, petrol consumption, oil changes, and greasing activities.
  • Adhering to UNFPA's Rules and Regulations, particularly in the event of an accident, and ensuring all necessary steps are followed.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Driver position include:
  • Completed Secondary Level Education.
  • A minimum of three years of post-primary education.
  • A valid driver's license and a thorough understanding of road rules.
  • Aptitude for making small repairs on vehicles and a basic knowledge of car mechanics.
  • At least five years of experience working with an international agency in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English or French, with previous experience in an international agency considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed Secondary Level Education, which is essential for understanding the responsibilities associated with the role. A higher level of education may be beneficial but is not explicitly required for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of experience working with an international agency in a similar capacity.
