Job Overview: The Child ProtectionInformation Management System (CPIMS+) Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and utilization of the CPIMS+ database within the Dadaab Refugee Camp. Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with child protection standards and data sharing procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining the functionality of the CPIMS+ system, providing technical support to child protection staff, and generating statistical reports on child protection activities. The officer will also be involved in training and capacity-building initiatives for staff, ensuring that the CPIMS+ system is tailored to meet the specific needs of children in the camp. The role demands a strong commitment to child protection principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance child safety and well-being.
Duties and Responsibilities: The CPIMS+ Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring the effective use of the CPIMS+ database as a case management tool, customizing the system to fit the context of Dadaab Refugee Camp, producing timely progress reports on activities, assisting Child Protection Officers with data entry and training, monitoring data quality, managing both electronic and hardcopy information related to case management, conducting training sessions for staff and partners, generating routine reports and analyzing data on child protection issues, collaborating with other agencies, and ensuring the protection of confidential data. The officer will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, participating in community events, and contributing to the development of case management tools.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or a related field from a recognized institution. A minimum of 2 years of continuous work experience in data management, preferably within an NGO focused on child protection or human rights, is required. Practical experience with CPIMS+ is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in IT systems and software, including Microsoft Office and SPSS. Strong interpersonal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision are essential. Additionally, candidates should be able to tolerate cultural, educational, and religious diversity in the workplace.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or any related field. A strong educational background in data management or child protection is preferred, as it will provide the necessary foundation for the responsibilities associated with this role.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of continuous work experience in data management, ideally within an NGO setting that deals with child protection or human rights. Candidates with practical experience in using CPIMS+ will have a competitive advantage. The role demands a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being capable of working independently when required.
Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context and the communities served by the DRC.
Additional Notes: This position is offered on a 7-month contract basis, with salary and conditions in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council's terms of employment for national staff.
