The consultant will be expected to engage in comprehensive analysis and documentation that aligns with the strategic goals of the UNDP and the local government. This role requires a deep understanding of the socio-economic landscape of Punjab, as well as the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and other partners, to ensure that the strategies developed are inclusive and sustainable. The assignment is expected to span 20 days over a two-month period, requiring a commitment to deliver high-quality outputs within the specified timeframe.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough research and analysis of the current socio-economic conditions in Punjab to inform the strategy documentation.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives that will shape the sectoral planning process.
Develop a comprehensive strategy document that outlines key priorities, objectives, and action plans for the sectoral development in Punjab.
Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to present findings and gather feedback on the draft strategy.
Revise and finalize the strategy document based on stakeholder input and ensure alignment with UNDP’s goals and local government priorities.
Prepare and submit progress reports to the UNDP procurement unit, detailing the work completed and any challenges encountered during the assignment.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Punjab and the development challenges faced by the region.
Proficiency in project management and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or strategic planning would be an advantage.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, policy development, or consultancy within the public sector or international development context is required. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Urdu or Punjabi is considered an asset, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 20 days spread over two months. The consultant is expected to work remotely and may need to travel to Punjab for stakeholder meetings as required. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the UNDP's established rates for individual contractors.
