Job Overview: The Driver position at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of these vehicles. The incumbent will be responsible for transporting authorized personnel, delivering documents, and performing minor vehicle maintenance. The Driver will be expected to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment, reflecting the urgency and importance of humanitarian assistance in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
Drive UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers and deliver or collect documents and other items.
Meet official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
Perform daily maintenance checks on assigned vehicles, including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and meet security standards.
Conduct minor repairs and arrange for major repairs as necessary, ensuring vehicles are kept clean and in good condition.
Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance activities.
Follow all security guidance and instructions provided by supervisors and security personnel.
Ensure valid documentation for passengers and cargo is maintained.
Support risk management efforts and report any issues or concerns to supervisors.
Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is essential. The position requires basic vehicle mechanical skills and the ability to perform minor repairs. Experience working with international organizations or embassies is desirable. Proficiency in using computers and office software, such as MS Word and Excel, is required. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Candidates with higher educational qualifications are encouraged to apply, as they may enhance the candidate's profile.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in driving and vehicle maintenance.
